Veneer Peeling Production Process in Vietnam

The production process of veneer is popular in Vietnam from WINLE VIETNAM CO., LTD

Veneer peeling is a widely used thin wood material in the plywood industry, utilized for interior, construction, and woodworking purposes. The veneer peeling production process consists of multiple steps, from selecting the raw materials to the final product. Below is a common veneer peeling production process in Vietnam:

Step 1: Material Selection 1.1. Raw Wood Selection: Choose high-quality wood species with suitable characteristics, age, and purposes for veneer peeling. Commonly preferred wood species include acacia, eucalyptus, pine, birch, and rubberwood.

1.2. Wood Log Inspection: Check the moisture content of the wood logs to ensure they meet the required moisture level for the veneer peeling process, and remove any warped or damaged wood logs. This helps prevent issues such as warping after veneer peeling.

Step 2: Wood Preparation and Veneer Peeling 2.1. Wood Cutting into Logs: Cut the wood into small logs with lengths suitable for the veneer peeling machine. In Vietnam, the standard length used is 1270mm.

2.2. Veneer Peeling Process: The wood logs are fed into the veneer peeling machine, where the cutting blade peels them into thin veneer sheets with specific thickness and width.

2.3. Veneer Sorting: After peeling, the veneer sheets are sorted into grades A, B, C based on their quality.

Step 3: Veneer Treatment 3.1. Veneer Drying: Newly peeled veneer has high moisture content and needs to be evenly dried in modern drying systems to achieve stable moisture levels and meet production standards. Besides using drying machines, veneer may also be sun-dried to reach the appropriate moisture content.

3.2. Quality Inspection of Veneer: The veneer sheets undergo quality inspection to eliminate any cracked, broken, or flawed pieces.

Step 4: Inspection and Grading of Veneer Peeling 4.1 Dimension and Thickness Check: The veneer sheets are inspected for their dimensions, thickness, and moisture content to ensure they meet production standards. The moisture content for machine-dried veneer is 8-14%, while for sun-dried veneer, it is between 12-18%.

4.2 Common sizes for veneer peeling are 1270x640mm with thicknesses of 1.7mm, 2.0mm, 2.2mm. Custom sizes are also available upon customer request.

Step 5: Packaging and Storage 5.1. Packaging: The veneer sheets are carefully packaged and stored in suitable environmental conditions to avoid moisture damage and hinder oxidation that may affect the quality of the veneer. Typically, 20 sheets are packed together for easy quantity checking and transportation.

5.2. Storage: Packaged veneer peeling will be stored in warehouses, awaiting export or supply to wood processing businesses.
